1966 the year England won the World Cup, the Labour party win the General Election, The Beach Boys release Pet Sounds, Austria won the Eurovision Song Contest with “Merci, Cherie” by Udo Jurgens, Everton beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 in the FA Cup Final.
In April 1966 Pye Records released a 7″ vinyl record entitled The Daleks. It was part of the “21 Minutes of Adventure” series released by Century 21 records, part of the production company of Gerry Anderson.
This record was the very first of its kind to feature Doctor Who material. The material is from the television episode The Planet of Decision” slightly edited to fit the 21 minutes running time with narration from the actor David Graham (who provided the voices of the Daleks in the episode).
It is basically an early prototype for the current tv series soundtrack releases of old stories but in a much earlier incarnation.
