Booking Through Thursday

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme about books and reading.

All other things (writing quality, story, etc) being the same, which would you rather read?

1. Something written by a man or a woman?

2. Something with a male or female protagonist?

3. Something funny or something tragic?

4. Something short or something long with many parts?

5. Something simple or something layered?

As a bloke I tend to find that books written by men are more to my liking but that isn’t to say that I won’t, or haven’t written anything by a woman.

I would have to say that I prefer male protagonists but that is only because I am a man and understand men more than I do women but sometimes I do like a strong female protagonist.

I would prefer to read something funny than tragic if I am being honest.

It would depend on my mood if I wanted to read something short or something longer but, if I like the characters, then something longer is nice, but it is also nice to read something short as well.

Layered books take longer to read than simple ones but are more rewarding in the end so I would like to say that I would prefer to read something layered, but then again if I don’t want to think, then something simple would be perfect.

I think that my answers to these questions prove that I will pretty much read anything at any time!

  1. I am like you, I pretty much read anything that appeals to me, no matter whether a man or woman is the author. I am more of a light reader, so stay away from anything to deep or chunky. I read for fun and entertainment, so don’t want to have to think to hard.
