World Cup Day Four

The Ivory Coast got off to a good start beating Japan 2-1 despite going behind early on to a goal by Honda. Bony and Gervinho two of the Premier League starts in the Ivory Coast team got the goals which saw them finish the game as victors.

Switzerland took on Ecuador and won the match with a last gasp goal by substitute Seferovic. Ecuador took the lead in the first half with a goal by E Valencia. The Swiss equalised just after the start of the second half when substiute Mehmedi hit the back of the net.

France beat Honduras 3-0 in a stormy game which saw Wilson Palacios sent off for two bookable offenses. France could also have had a player sent off when Paul Pogba tussled with Palacios in the first half but they both got away with a yellow. Palacios wasn’t so lucky second time around. Benzema scored the first and third France goals and the second one was rather contraversial as it did not appear to entirely cross the line despite the new fangled goal line technology.

Argentina played a plucky Bosnia-Hercegovina team and came out winners despite never being totally in control of the game. Yes there was one moment of Messi magic, but the first goal was an own goal by the Bosnians, almost identical to the opening goal of the tournament, and the Bosnians played out of their skins and didn’t make it easy for them at all!
