I discovered a love of the classics because we had to read them at school and, chances are, I would not have picked them up off my own back, so I am thankful for that.

The same could be said for plays as we had to read them for school too and it seems to me that reading a play is not that much different from reading a novel as you have all of the stage directions to show you what the author wanted you to know about the characters and the setting of the play.

If there was book that I really remember reading from school then that would have to see Silas Marner by George Eliot and the D.H. Lawrence short story The Rocking Horse Winner.
