There are a couple of film remakes that I think were totally pointless. One of them is the remake of the classic John Carpenter film Assualt on Precinct 13 which I think is a really great film filled with tension throughout, and a really good soundtrack by Carpenter himself.
The remake was directed by Jean-François Richet and was not a direct remake but rather loosely based on the original film.
For me it just lacked the intensity and the originally of the first film and would probably have been better with a different title and would have been better if it had been sold as a totally different story.
I am such a big fan of the original then no remake can stand up to the original for me, no matter how good it may be, or how well directed it was, or anything really.
