The quarter finals saw France overcoming Uruguay with goals in each half; Brazil go two nill down to Belgium in the first half and only managing to get a single goal back right at the end; England get a goal each half to see of Sweden and Croatia seeing of Russia by penalties after going 2-1 up in extra time only for Russia to equalise at the last. Once again Danijel Subašić had a great shoot out and the Croatians won their second penalty shoot out in a row!

The semi finals saw Belgium pretty much outplay France for much of the game but not managing to create any chances. France got lucky with a free kick with saw Umititi score the only goal of the game.

In the second semi-final England took an early lead and did not capitalise on their chances going in at the break just one goal to the good. Croatia managed to get a goal back in the second half and the match went to extra time for the third time in a row for the Croatians.

In the second half of extra time Pickford saved a certain goal before he was beaten by the next Croatian shot, which he really should have saved and Croatia prevailed and managed to avoid a third penalty shoot out.

England did well to get to the semi-finals so whilst it was disappointing not to get to the final I think we did as well as we could have done with such a young team.

In the final itself France were gifted an own goal by Mandžukić and a penalty that wasn’t a penalty and it seemed only fair that Croatia got one back from Perišić, but when Pogba scored and then Mbappe increased the lead it seemed that the cup was France’s with Mandžukić getting a goal in the right end it bring it back to 4-2 but even they couldn’t conjure up another two goals.

Luckily the cup wasn’t won by a penalty that wasn’t as France scored two more decent goals good enough to win any match.
