Women’s Football

I have been playing football manager games for more than thirty years, but, never before, have I managed a woman’s team before and, when I purchased Football Manager 21 the other day I found a women’s database that someone had made and I have played a season in charge of Arsenal Women in the WSL.

This is how I got on in my first season in charge.

My team, when I joined consisted of:

Manuela Zinsberger

Leonie Maier

Leah Williamson

Lia Waiti

Danielle van de Donck

Kim Little

Beth Mead

Katie McCabe

Vivianne Miedema

Fran Stenson

Jennifer Beattie

Jill Roord

Lisa Evans

Louise Quinn

Viktoria Schnaderbeck

Danielle Carter

Emma Mitchell

Caitlin Foord

Jordan Nobbs

In August we started in the FA Women’s League Cup. We we drawn against Brighton, Bristol City, Charlton, Crystal Palace and London Bees.

Our first game was against Brighton at home. We took the lead after just 6 minutes from Lisa Evans and then doubled our lead after 38 minutes from Kim Little. Before the break Kayleigh Green got one back for Brighton. In the second half we scored twice more with Miedema after 61 minutes and Nobbs after 82 finishing 4-1 victors.

A week later we took on Charlton in the cup and ran out 4-0 victors but by the end of the first half we were only 1 up with an early goal by Miedema after just two minutes. A second goal from Miedema and goals from McCabe and Nobbs secured our victory.

Next match was against Crystal Palace and once again we hit four goals (McCabe 2, Miedema and Williamson) but conceded one (Amber Stobbs) in stoppage time.

So after four games in August we finished played 3 won 3.
