In Granadaland on November 6th 1959 broadcasting began at 4.20 with the News in Welsh followed by a programme called Camau Cyntaf which was a Welsh language programme. These were broadcast on Channel 9 only whilst the rest of the day is broadcast on Channels 9 and 10.
Between 5 and 5.55 are programmes for the younger viewers. Here we had Huckelberry Hound and Puzzle Parade a quiz programme for young viewers.
ITN news was at 5.55pm followed by Northern Newscast at 6.05pm. Northern Newscast was Granada’s own news bulletin. There were also bulletins at 9.25pm and 11.05 pm.
Educating Archie at 6.30pm in The Case of the Missing Aunt. This was the television spin off of the popular radio series broadcast on the BBC Light Programme. This is the 8th episode of the second series. 27 episodes were made in total. The series is unfortunatley lost.
Wyatt Earp at 8.55pm starred Hugh O’Brian in an episode entitled Big Brother Virgil. The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp to give it its full title was a half hour western series which ran for 229 episodes over six years between 1955 and 1961. This was the 100th episode.
The New Adventures of Charlie Chan at 11.35pm was a British/American syndicated crime drama which ran for 39 episodes. The series starred J. Carrol Naish as the titular detective
